Want To Win $3,000? Enter Our First Developer Contest

With summer coming to an end, we at Thrutu felt it only appropriate to assign our loyal readers and friends in the developer community some fun back-to-school homework – so we’re announcing our first-ever Button Developer Contest! We’re offering $3,000 to our first-place winner (with additional cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd places). Best of all, all button entries will become part of Thrutu Central so that anyone can add them to his or her Thrutu drawer.

Why a contest? A few weeks back, we won 2nd place in PayPal’s Android Developer Contest for our own PayPal for Thrutu button. Instead of funneling our prize money into our own coffers, we’ve decided the best way to spend our winnings is by cycling it back into the development ecosystem to further mobile innovation. (Plus, we figured you’d be programming over Labor Day already, anyway, right?)

Interested?  Here are the key things to know:

WHAT: Build the next great Thrutu button! Find suggestions and tips about what we’re looking for on the official Developer Contest page.

WHO: Any interested web developer or native Android programmer, with a bit of spare time to build an interactive button for Thrutu and who wants $3,000 (and who doesn’t want that?!).

WHEN: Entries open now; deadline to publish your button and submit your entry form is September 30, and winners will be announced in October 2011.

HOW: Join the Thrutu Developer Community (if you haven’t already), browse to the Thrutu Developer Contest page for more details, and fill in our Entry Form to submit your button.

First Place: $3,000
Second Place: $2,000
Third Place: $1,000
Plus, developers of the best 100 buttons submitted will win Thrutu t-shirts!

If you have questions, please add your comments here, or drop us a line at, or on Facebook or Twitter. We look forward to testing your buttons and seeing how you revolutionize phone calls with the Thrutu platform!
