about the team
Thrutu is a division of Metaswitch Networks, a leading provider of carrier systems and communication software solutions for network operators, backed by Sequoia Capital and Francisco Partners.
Our management team
Chris is CTO of Thrutu, and chief scientist of our parent company, Metaswitch. Being blind, Chris’ favourite button is Prod – the first step towards long distance haptic experiences.
Favorite button: prod
Liz Rice, vice president
Prior to Thrutu, Liz has spent time at Skype and Last.fm, and brings a passion for building great products, and for using stickies and whiteboards wherever possible.
Favorite button: camera
Simon Williams, senior vice president
SVP at Metaswitch, Simon has worked at Silicon Valley startups, as well as Nortel and Ericsson, and is happy to have found, in Thrutu, a real reason for that GPS functionality in his phone
Favorite button: location
Meet some of the Thrutu Buttoneers
Mike is the resident UNIX beard. He lives scale, breathes scale and would drink scale if it came in the form of an alcoholic beverage.
Favorite button: prod
Shaun Crampton
Our server-side Java expert (too bad the server’s written in Python) and Android engineer.
Least favorite button: gallery – Shaun is the subject of the most-traded photo on Thrutu so far, but he’d kill us if we showed you
David Drysdale
David has been writing software for Metaswitch on and off since 1987, prefers UTF-8 to EBCDIC, and uses the location button to help steer architectural direction for the server.
Favorite button: location
Felix Palmer
Born with a drawer on his left hand and buttons on the right, Felix put two and two together and it very much seems like he’s made five.
Favorite button: location
Phil Pearl
Phil runs our scrum boards with almost-legible handwriting. He works buttons, plays buttons and counts buttons to get to sleep at night.
Favorite button: can’t tell you yet, it’s coming soon!
Alex Pollitt
Alex has over 20 years experience in the industry with numerous patents to his name, including some dating back to the earliest days of the internet.
Favorite button: camera
Lee Queza
Lee believes that design is a delicate balance of form (design) and function (engineering) and is excited and proud to see that realized so seamlessly in Thrutu.
Favorite button: prod (because I like to shake things up)
Oren Stern
Having spent way too much time at Cisco doing data networking, Oren has found a new passion playing around with all aspects of Android. We can’t let him go on vacation again – when he goes away he brings us back his own body weight in candy for the office.
